即興コメディ（インプロ）とは、台本も打ち合わせも一切ない、完全にその場で作り上げるコメディです。観客の皆様からいただいたお題をもとに、俳優がその場でシーン・歌・キャラクターを即興で演じます。何が起こるかは誰にもわかりません——それがインプロの醍醐味です！
Improv comedy (short for improvisational comedy) is completely unscripted. There are no rehearsed lines, no pre-planned scenes. Performers create everything — scenes, songs, characters — on the spot, based entirely on suggestions from the audience. Nobody knows what will happen next, including the performers. That unpredictability is what makes it so fun.

スタンドアップコメディは、一人のコメディアンがあらかじめ書いたネタを披露するスタイルです。インプロは、複数の出演者がその場で即興でシーンを作り上げ、観客も参加できる双方向のエンターテインメントです。エネルギーと笑いの量は同じくらい——でもインプロは毎回、二度と同じショーはありません。
Stand-up comedy is one person performing pre-written material. Improv is a group of performers creating scenes spontaneously in the moment, with the audience directly involved in shaping what happens. The energy and laughs are just as big - but every improv show is completely unique and can never be repeated.

大丈夫です！ ジェスチャーや「デタラメ語」を使うので、英語が苦手でも十分楽しめます。安心してお越しください。
NOPE. We use pantomime, easy words, and gibberish. If you speak one language, you will still laugh.

東京以外ではどこでライブや活動をしていますか。/ Do you perform outside of Tokyo, if so, where? . . .

大阪、福島、石垣、北京、香港、マニラ、シンガポール、クアラルンプール、ハワイ、ニューヨーク、テュービンゲンなどでもライブをしています。
Yup. We perform both internationally and within Japan (including Osaka, Fukushima, Ishigaki) Beijing, Hong Kong, Manila, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, New York City, Hawaii, and Tübingen.

オーディションに語学テストはないので、メンバーの語学力はバラバラです。
Members have varying degrees of skill in English and Japanese. There is no language test to join the Pirates.

パイレーツ・オブ・東京湾はプロ集団ですか。/ Is this a professional group? . . .

いいえ、趣味的グループです。現在のところこのグループだけで生計を立てているメンバーはいません。
No we’re not. We’re a hobby group. Unfortunately, none of the Pirates make their living off of this group. But we believe the product we put on stage (or offer in workshops) is extremely professional.
