Three of our cast members, Cheryl Ng, Lisa Sumiyoshi, and Yayoi Fujiwara, visited the J-WAVE studios in Roppongi to record the interview. They shared how the show works: no script, no plot, and every scene built live from audience suggestions shouted out in English or Japanese. They also talked about how pantomime, facial expressions, and gibberish keep the whole room laughing together, even when half the audience speaks only one of the two languages.
Why This Matters to Us
Since 2010 we have been performing one Sunday every month at What the Dickens! in Ebisu, and our mission has always been the same: create a night where Japanese and international audiences laugh at the same moments, side by side. Being introduced to J-WAVE's listeners, one of the most culture-savvy audiences in Japan, is a huge honor for a volunteer cast that does this for the love of the craft.
