I can't recommend the Pirates of Tokyo Bay enough! I've been going to see their shows for an ungodly long time (TEN YEARS) and they are every bit as funny now the first time I saw them. I much prefer their short-format approach to long form improv I've seen other groups do. Each game doesn't overstay its welcome and they routinely introduce new ones to the lineup, so every show is different. Alternating English and Japanese games means that no matter which language you speak, you can enjoy at least half the show. (And if you're studying one or the other it's good listening practice!) Several performers take turns being MCs, and they do a great job of keeping everyone on the same page.
I have some favorite games because they do incredibly difficult things very well, but you really have to see it for yourself to appreciate it. It's a make-your-face-hurt-from-laughing kind of good time.

日本語と英語を交えた即興コメディーショーがとても面白いです！英語が苦手な人も日本語が苦手な人もどんな人でも楽しめるアットホームな雰囲気です。お客さんからのお題からショーが作られるので、何回見ても楽しいです。
ショーのチケットには1ドリンクついているので、海外のビールやドリンクも楽しめます！なかなか海外に行けないけれど、海外の雰囲気を味わいたい方にオススメです。

Pirates of Tokyo Bay is a bilingual improv show similar to the style of the TV show 'Whose Line Is It Anyway?' - short games and scenes made up based on the audience's suggestions. Their MCs are amazing - all of the games and setup are seamlessly translated into both English and Japanese. The show is a great way for me to get more practice learning Japanese. I'd imagine for a visitor, it's a fun experience to get a feeling for cultural references from Japan. The last show had a hilarious rendition of Sailor Moon. Even though I can't understand Japanese well, the physical comedy made it really enjoyable.
The audience participation was a highlight—two audience members went up on stage and provided the sound effects during one scene. Comedy chaos ensued.
The show is in a British pub, and it's a fun place to go hang out. The ticket price comes with a free drink!

外国人の友人に連れられて行きました。あまり期待していなかったのですが、めちゃくちゃ楽しめました！
ワンセクションごとに英語日本語が切り替わりますし、日本語の説明を細かくしていただけるので、英語があまり得意でない方も楽しめると思います。
公演は2時間半程度の大ボリュームですが、全て即興で行われるので飽きることなく楽しめました。
講演後は演者の方達とフランクにお酒を交わすこともできます。
また是非行きたいと思います。

英語インプロでステージデビュー！？
恵比寿の PIRATES OF TOKYO BAY で、英語と日本語が交差するインプロショーを観てきました。
扉を開けた瞬間、そこはもう海外でした。聞こえてくるのは英語、周りのほとんどが外国人（日本在住か観光客かはわからないけど）。東京にいながら、異国の空気に一瞬で包まれる。
会場は、大きなBARの角に設けられた小さなステージ。所狭しと並べられた椅子の最前列に座ると、ステージに膝がぶつかるほどの近さ。
ショーはコメディに振り切ったインプロ。英語と日本語が自由に行き交い、BGMは電子ピアノで即興演奏。すべてがその瞬間に生まれて、その瞬間に消えていく。笑いと、夢のような時間。
観客参加のシーンで、Ken Matsue が優しく背中を押してくれて、思わず挙手。英語のインプロに参加させてもらいました。
インプロバイザーの強力なリードのもと、見せ場をつくってもらい、僕は一言だけ放つ。すると、会場がドッと笑いに包まれる。
あの瞬間の気持ちよさ。夢の中にいるようでした。
自分でも驚いたのは、言ったことのないフレーズが、不意に口から自然に出てきたこと。頭で考える前に、身体が、感覚が、遊び始めていた。
素直で、遊び心を持って、その場に身を委ねられていた証拠かもしれません。
演者の息遣い。観客とのインタラクション。場のエネルギー。
ライブのインプロには、人を一瞬で解放する力がある。
とても刺激的な夜でした。また行きたい。こういうコメディの世界に、また飛び込みたい。

I haven't seen many improv shows so wasn't sure what it would be like but I'm so glad I went. It was really funny, I loved the variety of games/setups they did, the team were all super talented plus they had a live musician accompanying them! Great venue and atmosphere. Will 100% go again. What a fantastic night out.

Knowing Pirates of the Tokyo Bay since 2023 and watching their first show, I'm forever in awe of and love their approach to improv, how professional they are both on stage and off-stage. Their musical improv and energy not only prove what improv is great for - human connection - but also what improv can be as an entertainment form.
Highly recommended for any workshop or course. I attended a workshop taught by Mike, founder of Pirates, and it is without a doubt one of the best improv workshops I have ever had in my whole life.

Such an awesome way to spend a Valentine's date! We even got chosen to participate in a Valentine's themed game on stage (we volunteered, we weren't forced ). The troupe is very talented and hilarious! Thanks for a great time, Pirates!
