パイレーツ・オブ・東京湾は、Peatixコミュニティアワード2026において「クリエイティブ・アートコミュニティ賞」を受賞しました。全国から集まった約250のエントリーの中から、11カテゴリー・合計33コミュニティのひとつとして選出されたものです。2010年の結成以来、恵比寿のブリティッシュパブWhat the Dickens!を拠点に、日本語と英語の即興コメディを毎月公演してきた活動が評価されました。

私たちのミッション：言語の壁を越えて笑う

第一言語が何であっても、その場にいる全員に笑ってもらうこと。それがパイレーツ・オブ・東京湾のミッションです。ショーは台本なし、予測不能。観客のお題からすべてをその場で作り上げます。ジェスチャーやパントマイム、デタラメ語を駆使するので、英語がわからなくても楽しめる内容です。日本語と英語が同じステージで飛び交う夜は、東京でここにしかない面白い体験です。

「初めてのデートで私たちのショーを観に来たカップルが、数年後に夫婦になって『あの夜がきっかけでした』と報告してくれたことがあります。台本のない即興コメディが、誰かの人生の大切な一ページになれたと知った瞬間、16年続けてきた意味を感じました。笑いは人をつなげる。それを証明してくれた最高の瞬間です。」

これまでの航海

2010年7月18日に結成し、以来、恵比寿を拠点に毎月公演を続けています。2011年には東日本大震災のあと、笑いを届けるための公演を行いました。日本のコメディグループのひとつとして、シンガポール、マニラ、クアラルンプール、香港、ハノイなど、アジア各地のコメディフェスティバルにも参加。訪れる国の言語と文化をできる限り学び、現地のコミュニティとつながる活動を続けています。また、日本のNPO法人「Over Cancer Together」のスポンサーも務めています。

What award did Pirates of Tokyo Bay win?

Pirates of Tokyo Bay won the Creative Arts Community Award at the Peatix Community Awards 2026, selected as one of 33 winning communities across 11 categories from roughly 250 entries nationwide. The award recognizes 16 years of monthly English and Japanese improv comedy at What the Dickens! in Ebisu, where every show is built live from audience suggestions.

Our Mission: Laughter Beyond Language

Our mission is simple: everyone in the room laughs, no matter what their first language is. Every show is unscripted and unpredictable, built on the spot from your suggestions. The cast uses physical comedy, pantomime, and gibberish, so you can follow every scene even if you only speak one language. English and Japanese share the same stage, and the result is a night you will not find anywhere else in Tokyo.

"A couple came to our show on their first date. A few years later, they came back married and told us that night is what started it all. The moment I learned that unscripted improv comedy had become an important page in someone's life story, I felt the meaning of 16 years of doing this. The Voyage So Far

Founded on July 18, 2010, we have performed monthly in Ebisu ever since. In 2011, we brought shows of laughter to audiences in the aftermath of the Tohoku earthquake. As one of Japan's comedy groups on the international festival circuit, we have performed in Singapore, Manila, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, and Hanoi, learning as much of each country's language and culture as we can along the way. We are also a proud sponsor of the Japanese NPO Over Cancer Together.
